Cairo - MENA
An Arab League (AL) official praised on Thursday a decision by the UK's National Union of Students (NUC) to boycott Israel over what it called Israel's violations of Palestinian human rights.
This move stands as another victory for the Palestinian people and reflects increased awareness of the European people about the Palestinian issue, AL Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and Other Occupied Lands Affairs Mohamed Sobieh said.
He stressed that the Israeli government got into a panic after the motion was passed, with 19 members voting in favor, 12 against and three abstaining.
The NUC is the UK’s umbrella student organization for some 600 higher education institutions, representing 7 million students.
