Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned on Sunday the storming of Israeli forces to Al Aqsa Mosque compound and attacking prayers with tear gas canisters and stun grenades at dawn, Palestinian Presidency Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said.
He added that Al Quds and Islamic and Christian sanctities are red line, stressing that the Palestinian Authority will not stand hand-tied against such violations.
The Palestinian president held several phone calls with many Arab, regional and international parties, especially Jordan, Morocco and the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) after today violations against Aqsa Mosque, the spokesman further said.
Earlier, Israeli occupation forces stormed Al Aqsa Mosque precincts after clashes with worshipers during attempts to bring them out of the holy mosque while Israeli police were seen deployed in the surroundings of the holy complex.
Eyewitnesses said the Israeli forces clamped a siege on the old city of Al Quds, Al Aqsa Mosque complex and checked the identifies of the worshipers.
Worshipers whose ages are less than 45 years were banned from entering Al Aqsa complex under pretexts of the Jewish celebrating the new Jewish year.
The clashes came hours before the start of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah
