An Israeli officer and a soldier have died and four others injured when their artillery vehicle flipped during the course of a training exercise in Israel’s Golan Heights Wednesday morning,The Jerusalem Post reported.
"During the night, as part of an exercise in a battalion commanders course in the Golan Heights, a TAT-type Reconnaissance Battalion vehicle flipped over," the army said in a statement.
The soldiers, who were killed, a Lieutenant and Sergeant, were commanding the vehicle and were in the cockpit of the vehicle when the driver made an unexplained turn and the vehicle fell down an embankment of 8-9 meters.
According to the army, one of the fatalities had been trapped in the vehicle for several hours.
Four other soldiers were injured in the incident, one seriously and three moderately. The three moderately injured soldiers were evacuated to the Ziv Medical Center in Safed.
The one seriously injured soldier was evacuated to Rambam Hospital in Haifa by helicopter.
