Egypt's Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's participation in the World Economic Forum reflects restored stability of the Egyptian economy and the country's return to the heart of events and international functions.
Egypt's participation is also an opportunity to promote for national ventures Egypt has embarked upon and also the international economic conference to be hosted by Sharm El Sheikh in March, the spokesman said.
He pointed out to dinner banquet hosted by the WEF Thursday evening in honor of President Sisi to which more than 70 international figures were invited including the foreign minister of Canada and leading Arab and international businessmen and heads of multinational companies.
President Sisi expressed, during dinner, keenness on meeting with businessmen and investors to encourage them to come to Egypt and to review the latest developments in the country and their impact on the economy.
Many participants spoke about the improvement in the atmosphere of investment in Egypt and the expected increase in investment revenues, he said, adding that some of them voiced plans to expand activities in Egypt.
The participants asserted interest in participating in the Sharm El Sheikh conference to support and promote the Egyptian economy in March, he said.
The president stressed the importance of the tourism sector as one of the main sources of income to Egypt and voiced belief that Egypt can restore its distinguished position in the global tourism market, he added.
The Canadian foreign minister asserted that his country strongly supports the stances and policies adopted by the Egyptian president, he said, adding that the minister said he is a friend of Egypt's and encourages the success of the Egyptian experiment.
He expressed his country's wish to carry out investments in Egypt, the spokesman added.
