OAPEC Chief Abbas al-Naqi

The recent sharp slump on oil prices would feature high on the agenda of the upcoming Tenth Arab Energy Conference, to kick off next Sunday in Abu Dhabi, said Secretary General of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) Abbas Al-Naqi.
"The conference, themed 'Energy and Arab Cooperation', will mull the implications of the developments on oil and gas markets on Arab energy sector," Al-Naqi said in a press statement Sunday.
He noted the conference will be held in Abu Dhabi during the period December 21-23.
Al-Naqi added that the conferees will also discuss investment requirements to develop the energy sector in Arab countries; energy, environment, and sustainable development; energy resources; energy consumption and conservation in Arab countries; Arab electricity interconnection; and technological developments and their implications for energy sector.
The event is sponsored by OAPEC, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), the League of Arab States (LAS), and the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO).
Fifteen research papers will be presented during the conference in four technical sessions on the following topics: Arab and Global Energy Resources: Reality and Expectations; Consumption and Conservation of Energy in the Arab Countries; Arab Electricity Interconnection; and Technological Developments and their Implications for Energy Sector.
