French Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron

The French government supports the management of energy giant EDF and the "very profitable" plan to build a next-generation nuclear plant in Britain, despite the resignation of the company's finance director, Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron said Monday.

"The state, as the holder of a comfortable majority of the shares, fully supports the management team," Macron said. "We re-affirm our full support for the project" to build the plant at Hinkley Point in southwest England, which will be "very profitable over the next 30 years", he added.
