Chairman Hussein al-Kharafi

Kuwait Industries Union (KIU) Chairman Hussein Al-Kharafi said here on Saturday the plan of the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) to establish subsidized diesel depots at industrial zones would certainly lead to easing pressure on plant owners and saving time.
He said in a statement that the KIU had recently organized a specialized seminar on factory owners' difficulties in logistical services due to the transfer of diesel from KNPC depots to factories.
Due to spending a long time on field checks for the needs of plants and the large number of inspectors required for the job, it was agreed with officials participating in the seminar on speeding up procedures for the setting up of diesel depots at industrial zones, he said.
Al-Kharafi touted the decision to raise diesel prices as a significant step towards maintaining the production level of local factories and achieving economic development in the country.
For his part, Deputy Chairman of the KNPC for Planning and Local Marketing Shukry Mahrous said the decision to cut subsidy clearly targeted only retail stations.
Speaking to reporters following the seminar, Mahrous said the KNPC would carefully consider all suggestions tabled by owners of plants and small-sized companies during the seminar, and vowed to wipe out all obstacles they are facing.
