Kuwait - Arab Today
Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said that the "Journey of Hope" around-the-world expedition has shown the world Kuwait's successful experience in caring for and integrating into the society people with special needs.
In a press statement issued Monday, the Information Ministry pointed out that the Minister received the Journey's team and thanked them for their efforts to convey to the world Kuwait's humanitarian message.
Sheikh Salman said that the maritime journey stems from Kuwait's humanitarian sense which was recently appreciated and admired by the UN proclamation of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a "Humanitarian Leader" of Kuwait as a "Humanitarian Center".
He called for the need to make a documentary and book on the journey to be displayed at Kuwait's pavilion in the upcoming Expo 2015.
For his part, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of Board of Trustees of the Journey Yusuf Al-Jassem expressed gratitude for Sheikh Salman and the Ministry of Information's support to the Journey.
The "Journey of Hope" boat sailed from Kuwait May 1 and returned back homes early December passing through 46 ports and over 20 countries.
Over 22 celebratory events were held at intervals in all ports en route with a view to unifying people of all cultures and religions towards a collective effort to care for and benefit those with intellectual disability everywhere.
