Minister for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani

State Minister for Media Affairs and Communications, Mohammad Momani, reiterated the prime minister's statement which he made yesterday, that Jordan is not on the list of the ten-country alliance to confront Islamic state insurgents.
In a briefing to the media, Momani said, however, that Jordan collaborates with brotherly and friendly countries in the fight against terrorism.
Jordan's position on terrorism has always been clear, he said, Jordan is against all forms of terrorist acts, especially those committed in the name of Islam.
Momani said confronting extremist ideologies is a national duty that must be exercised at all levels, urging social, religious and political groups to assume a role in the enlightenment of society to help resist radical views that promote ethnic hatred.
The minister denied rumors that Jordan buys smuggled oil from oil wells under the control of is militants.
On the issue of gas imports, to make up for the shortage of Egyptian gas, he said Jordan is planning to buy natural gas off the Gaza shores as part of efforts to find alternative sources to fill the country's needs, including an agreement with a U.S. company that operates in the Middle East.
