Kuwait - Arab Today
Notable cardiologist at the Chest Diseases Hospital Ibrahim Al-Rashdan revealed on Thursday that two heart operations have been broadcast live via satellite to an Asian major medical congress held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The first of the two sophisticated procedures involved an octogenarian who had a problem with previously implanted heart stents, Al-Rashdan said. Laser was used in the operation, in an innovative Kuwaiti method, granting it success.
In the second procedure, more complicated but a successful one, a septuagenarian was suffering from truncus arteriosus, the leading cardiac catheterization consultant said.
Al-Rashdan noted that broadcasting such medical procedures to international specialized gatherings is likely to leave positive impact on treating cardiac diseases, especially catheterization, not only in Kuwait but in the Middle East as well.
The Chest Diseases Hospital is closely following developments of treating cardiac problems worldwide, catheterization in particular, he stressed.
