National Defense Minister, Yacoub Sarraf, and Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Massimo Marotti, on Tuesday

National Defense Minister, Yacoub Sarraf, and Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Massimo Marotti, on Tuesday inspected the Italian Bilateral Military Mission to Lebanon (MIBIL) post, situated between the towns of Shaaitieh and Smaaieh, east of Tyre.


The Center hosts various training courses for army units.


In his delivered word, Ambassador Marotti lauded the profound cooperation between Lebanon and Italy as well as their historic ties.


Minister Sarraf and Ambassador Marotti held meetings with a number of senior officers of the Lebanese army and the Italian contingent.


In the wake of the meeting, Sarraf said his visit came to thank Italy for its contribution to the establishment of a training school for officers and personnel of the Lebanese army.


Sarraf thanked Italy for its support to the Lebanese military, saying the Lebanese army protects the country's security and stability in the face of all dangers posed by its enemies, namely Israel and terrorism.


Sarraf pointed out that his visit came to inspect the Italian training school, stressing that the government opposes any violation of the Lebanese sovereignty, indicating that this training comes to protect our lands.


Afterwards, Sarraf and Marotti moved to the UNIFIL Italian contingent's base in the southern town of Shamaa.


The Minister hailed the joint cooperation between the Lebanese army and the UNIFIL forces, stressing Lebanon's determination to bolster these efforts
