A delegation from the Ministry of Interior, led by Brigadier General Hamad Ajlan Al Amimi, Director-General of the Federal Criminal Police, participated in the 86th meeting of the INTERPOL General Assembly that was inaugurated yesterday by Chinese President, Xi Jinping, in Beijing.

The assembly runs until 29th September, 2017.

The meeting discussed a range of issues, including amending some INTERPOL laws related to the identification of the assignment periods of the Secretary-General, defining the standards for joining the organisation, voting on the requests made by Palestine and Solomon Islands to join the organisation, presenting the world programmes to combat criminal threats such as terrorism and cyber crimes, and voting on the proposition to establish a foundation to support the families of police personnel who get killed on duty.

The General Assembly, the highest administrative authority in INTERPOL, meets on an annual basis to take important decisions related to international police co-operation.

The ministry’s delegation included Brigadier General Abdul Wahid Ahmed Al Hammadi, Director of International Criminal Police Administration at the Ministry of Interior, Colonel Saeed Al Qemzi, Deputy Director of the Wanted Department of the Dubai Police General Investigation and Criminal Investigation Department, Major Hamad Abdullah Al Zaabi from the International Criminal Police Administration at the Ministry of Interior and Captain Ahmed Mohamed bin Fahad from the General Administration of Smart Services in Dubai Police.
