The social committee of the Economic and Social Council convened on Sunday at the Cairo-based Arab League HQ.

The meeting will review an array of social files due to be raised during the council's ministerial session, slated for Thursday.

Director General of the Saudi Financial Ministry's department for Arab and Islamic economic ties Hussein ben Shawish - who chaired the meeting - highlighted the importance of the social dimension in promoting the joint Arab action mechanism.

The meeting falls within the framework of preparations for the 29th Arab summit due to be held in Riyadh in March, 2018.
