Jordan on Tuesday strongly condemned as a criminal act a bombing at a mosque in the southern Nigerian city of Mobi earlier in the day, which killed or injured dozens of innocent people.

The Jordan News Agency, Petra, quoted Mohammad Momani, State Minister for Media Affairs and official government spokesman, as saying, "Jordan condemns this criminal attack that targeted innocent worshipers at the dawn prayers," adding that the targeting of houses of worship is evidence of the "delusion and criminality of terrorist groups that target humanity and religious values".

Momani reiterated Jordan's solidarity with the Nigerian government in its fight against terrorist and criminal gangs, expressing his heart-felt condolences to the families of the victims and wishing the injured speedy recovery.

At least 50 people were killed in yesterday's suicide bombing, which occurred during dawn prayers at the mosque in Mobi, the city from which Nigerian forces had driven out Boko Haram terror group in early 2015.
