H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, was briefed about the developments for a strategic tunnel project and the start of the construction of a permanent canal connected to it.
He praised the progress in this strategic project and the efforts of all the people involved to adopt the highest international standards.
He made his statement during his reception for a team from the Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, which included Abdullah Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Deputy General Manager; Omar Al Hamshi, Projects Sector Manager; Mohammed Al Mansouri, Operation and Maintenance Manager; Dr. Nader Asaad bin Taher, Asset Management Manager; Nasser Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director of the Programmes Department, and several other project engineers.
The reception was also attended by Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the Executive Council, Saif Ahmed Al Muhairi, Director-General of the Office of the Vice-President of the Executive Council, and several other council members.
The Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company stated that it is always keen to update its development plans, to achieve its future goals and initiatives and its main current goal of realising the emirate’s strategic plan and the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, to create a world-class waste water treatment system.
The company’s "Strategic Tunnel Enhancement Programme," STEP, is a major part of the future infrastructure projects being implemented by the Abu Dhabi government and its social, urban and economic development plans, which aim to fulfil the emirate’s long-term needs and provide sustainable solutions to the issue of collecting and transporting sewage from Abu Dhabi island, the mainland and other islands.
