Wife of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment, has asserted that the Government Summit is a qualitative achievement that affirms UAE's position as pioneer in developing government systems and best practices by encouraging innovation and introducing unconventional methods to improve government services.
Sheikha Manal will chair a special plenary session in the 3rd Government Summit that attracts delegations from 87 countries and set to kick off in Dubai on the 9th of February 2015 under patronage of Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.
Sheikha Manal expressed her happiness and pride to participate in this global event, indicating the added value of the Summit that has successfully became a prominent global event welcomed by the international community.
"Toward Gender Balance in Governments", chaired by Sheikha Manal will discuss number of important issues through three discussion panels. The session will highlight the significant role of Emirati women in developing the country and leadership's approach in empowering women and engaging her in all aspects, including UAE's international competitiveness.
Commenting on the session's agenda, Sheikha Manal said that the UAE government gave woman adequate opportunities to become an active partner in various fields, and UAE Constitution granted her equal rights to carry out her responsibilities. Consequently, Emirati woman unleashed her potentials and assumed leadership positions in the government. She indicated that Emirati women occupy 66% of government's workforce, 30% of them assume leadership positions. Concluding her remarks, Sheikha Manal stated that UAE's success in enabling woman and bridging the gap between genders qualifies the country to set world-class example in both of those vital aspects.
"Toward Gender Balance in Governments" will discuss the balance between home and work, the overwhelming social and cultural patterns and the legislations related to achieving balance between genders.
