Gigi Buffon expressed his delight at the Bianconeri’s dominant display in tonight’s 4-0 win over Roma. The goalkeeper was rarely troubled throughout the encounter, largely thanks to the fine team display which reduced any Giallorossi threat from the first minute onwards. The 34-year-old said: “Today’s win was perhaps the most important of those we’ve picked up until now. But the victories that follow from here on in will be fundamental, because they bring us closer to a target that seemed truly impossible.” Buffon revealed some of the secrets behind the team’s form this season:  “It’s pleasing to be unbeaten, but it’s the way we play and the strength we show in every game that demonstrates how much this team believes in its capabilities. I’ve conceded just once in the last seven games and just 15 in the 31 games I’ve played. It’s never happened before, not even in the years when we dominated as a side. The defensive solidarity is the platform on which we’ve built our successes.” A special mention was reserved for two-goal midfielder Arturo Vidal: “I’ve been lucky enough to see a host of fine midfielders during my time with the club. I had already said at the start of the season that someone like Arturo would have also been able to play for the ‘great’ Juve of a few years ago.” The goalkeeper ended by commenting on the Giallorossi’s performance: “Roma usually create a lot of chances, but they didn’t manage to this evening, also because going down to ten men with barely half an hour on the clock took away their conviction of being able to mount a fightback.”
