Yemeni army repels houthi attack in Taiz

At least 23 houthi militants were killed and injured in clashes with forces affiliated with the Yemeni army and the Public Resistance western Taiz, Yemen's military council in Taiz said on Thursday.

While two houthi members were held captive during the clashes that took place at the old airport, at least 16 Yemeni soldiers and seven civilians were wounded in houthi airstrikes, the media center of the military council said in its daily report.

Thursday's attack on the brigade 35 camp is the fourth to be repelled by Yemeni army and resistance within in a week, Head of the military council Brig. Sadeq Sarhan said during his visit to the camp.

The legitimate forces will always defend the nation against houthi militants and insurgents Brig. Sarhan said, thanking the Arab coalition for its support.

Meanwhile, coalition aircraft carried out airstrikes against houthi targets west of Taiz and destroyed a tank, forcing them to pull back.

As houthis warplanes raided army outposts east Taiz, clashes erupted between the two sides in another part of the city, the council noted.

In al Jawf Governorate, which is located near borders with Saudi Arabia, five militants were killed after they attacked a Yemeni army outpost there.
