A shuddering explosion hit a military base adjoining Aden International Airport as an explosives-packed car went off early Wednesday, Yemen's e-Aden al-Ghad newspaper reported.

Two suicide bombers were on the explosive-packed car, the paper said.

Later on, clashes broke out between security forces and assailants on another car who attempted to storm into the base using RPGs.

Eyewitnesses said the number of casualties is still unknown.

Security forces sealed off the airport's road.
