Eight soldiers and two militants were killed Monday when gunmen attacked a military site in the southern Yemeni province of Lahj, local media reported. According to dpa, Barakish news website reported that the gunmen were members of the Southern Movement, which seeks autonomy for the former state of South Yemen. The attack comes three days after shells fired by an army tank in the southern al-Dali province killed 13 people taking part in a funeral procession held by members of the secessionist movement.
