As many as 30 al Qaeda militants were killed in the Yemeni city of Mukalla in an operation that lasted for 24 hours.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the command of the second military zone in Mukalla said that the operation left also four Yemeni soldiers dead and 12 others wounded.

The jets of the Arab coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, participated in the operation in western Mukalla.

The operation succeeded in killing al Qaeda fighters who were planning to carry out a terrorist attack, the statement read.
