Kabul - MENA
The Afghan intelligence operatives thwarted a plot to assassinate first Vice-President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum, Khaama reported on Saturday.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said a suicide bomber was appointed to carry out an attack on Dostum during a Buz Kashi competition in Jawzjan province.
A statement by NDS said the suicide bomber was looking to target Dostum by placing the explosives inside the horse riding bag.
This comes as the Afghan intelligence operatives foiled a previous plot to assassinate the first Vice-President two months after he took office.
At least four suspected militants including suicide bombers were arrested by the Afghan intelligence operatives during an operation in the 5th police district of Kabul city late in the month of November last year.
No group including Taliban has so far claimed responsibility behind the assassination plots.
