Afghanistan attack rises: 52 killed, wounded

The death toll from Taliban attack on a police training center in Gardez, the capital of Paktia province in the east of Afghanistan rose to 12 with about 40 injured, Afghan officials said on Tuesday.

A suicide bomber detonated a car filled with explosives near the training center, then a number of attackers launched their assault on the training center, the BBC reported, quoting a statement by the interior ministry as saying. 

The victims include women, students and police, Hedayatullah Hamidi, public health director in Gardez said.

The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack.
