Five militants have been killed by the army over the past 24 hours, the Afghan military said Sunday. "Five insurgents, including local leader Mullah Nadir, were killed and three insurgents were wounded during army operations within the last 24 hours," the Afghan Defense Ministry said in a statement, Xinhua reported. The army specialists have also defused 21 rounds of bombs across the country since early Saturday, it noted. The Taliban insurgent group, which has intensified attacks in spring and summer known as the fighting season in the war-torn country, has yet to make comments.
