Somali authorities announced that 16 people were killed and 55 others injured in a suicide bombing at a hotel in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
Euronews reported that government forces have blocked off all the main roads near the hotel.
Sporadic gunfire could still be heard on Thursday, a day after the attack on the five-storey hotel.
Al-Shabaab, the the anti-government group affiliated with al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for Wednesday's attack.
