The Wali (governor) of North Darfur State, Abdul Wahid Yousef said his government will work for holding a number of conferences and forums, for the population of the state, to realize social reconciliations and remove the impacts of war, in Darfur, leading to a new social contract for opening new horizons of peaceful co-existence .
Yousef who met, Tuesday, a delegation of the US Pentagon and the US embassy in Khartoum led by the Economic and political Advisor of the embassy, Wallace R. Bain, has pointed out to the government keenness to establish small income generating- economic projects and introduce modern technologies in the agricultural field to increase production .
The Wali, during the meeting, has briefed the delegation on the overall security situations in the state after the implementation of the Firearms Collection Campaign which was declared by the Presidency, affirming that the move has contributed to the targeted security and stability .
He indicated that his government is now, working for removing the impacts and implications of war, particularly, following the return of the displaced to their areas of origin .
Yousef outlined that the protection of the wide borders between Sudan and Libya represents another challenge to his government because it includes illegal migration and smuggling of drugs .
Meanwhile, the delegation Chairman has, acknowledged in a press statement after the meeting the improvement of security situation and the success of the Firearms Collection process in Darfur, stressing his country's interest in the process of stability in Sudan .
He called for continued government efforts to encourage non-signatories to peace process .
The delegation included US military attaché, John Wayne and an arms expert .
