Russia and Belgium adopted an agreement to step up bilateral talks on global issues in accordance with mutual interests, including at the United Nations Security Council, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a press release after talks held by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin and Belgian Foreign Ministry’s Political Director and Director General for Multilateral Affairs Axel Kenes, following Belgium’s election as a member of the UN Security Council for the years of 2019-2020.

They "discussed a wide range of issues on the UN Security Council agenda, focusing on nations and regions and on peaceful solutions to conflicts," the foreign ministry said. "The sides agreed to step up a multifaceted exchange of views, including at the UN Security Council, on topical international issues with regard to mutual interests and priorities.".
