 His Excellency Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs today received a phone call from Rex W. Tillerson, U.S. Secretary of State during which they reviewed the good bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

The U.S Secretary of State expressed his confidence in the strong bilateral relations and the desire of the U.S administration to maintain and enhance these relations in various domains to serve the common interests of both countries. 

The two sides also reviewed the developments in the region and the current Gulf crisis.

During the call, the Sultanate reaffirmed its vision about the importance of supporting the efforts of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jabir al-Sabah, Emir of the sisterly State of Kuwait and his good offices to contain the crisis. The Sultanate looks forward that all parties would substantiate such efforts.

The Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs affirmed that the U.S.'s role is important and it needed to find solutions to settle such differences. He added that the Sultanate is confident that brothers in the GCC States have the desire to overcome this crisis and activate the GCC system to achieve the prospective aims, and serve the joint interests of the GCC peoples and maintain the security and stability of the region.
