Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Tuesday said Pakistan could provide cooperation to Nigeria in various sectors including health, infrastructure, education and human resource management.
“There is a lot of trade potential between the two countries that can be utilized for the benefit of the people of Pakistan and Nigeria,” he told High Commissioner of Nigeria in Pakistan Maj. Gen (retd) Ashimiyu Adebayo Olaniyi who called on him at the PM Office.
In this context, the prime minister also emphasized the need for regularly holding the Pakistan – Nigeria Joint Ministerial Commission meetings, PM office media wing said in a press release.
The prime minister said Pakistan and Nigeria shared many commonalities and also faced similar challenges.
The brotherly countries could help each other through sharing of expertise, he added.
He also congratulated Ambassador Olaniyi on his appointment to Pakistan.
The prime minister recalled his meeting with President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari on the sidelines of 9th D-8 Summit in October last year.
The Nigerian high commissioner thanked the prime minister for the warm welcome and expressed his strong commitment to further expanding bilateral relations.
