The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Al Othaimeen strongly condemned the series of suicide attacks carried out by suspected members of Boko Haram last Sunday and Monday respectively, in Maiduguri town, including the University of Maiduguri, northeastern Nigeria, killing more that thirteen people and injuring dozens of others.
The Secretary General denounced the heinous and despicable suicide acts that contravene Islamic values which uphold the sanctity of human life, especially at a time when Muslims are celebrating the Eid festival.
Dr. Al Othaimeen extended his condolences to the families of the victims and the people and government of Nigeria over this tragedy, and urged the Nigerian authorities to intensify efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He reiterated the OIC principled stance, vigorously denouncing all acts of terror and violent extremism and rejecting any justification of terrorism
