Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed al Jarwan

Outgoing Pan Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed al Jarwan urged comprehensive ceasefire in Syria to stem bloodshed.

Addressing the opening session of the parliament on Saturday, Jarwan called on the international community to shoulder its humanitarian and moral responsibility toward the Syrian crisis and find a solution to the six-year stalemate.

He exhorted all international and rights organizations to help the Syrians and secure humanitarian services, especially in Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq, highlighting the exacerbating conditions in Syria.

Meanwhile, Jarwan stressed that the Palestinian cause would remain a main Arab cause, urging the international community to put an end to the Israeli racist practices and help establish an independent Palestinian state with al Quds al Sharif as its capital.

He also called on Iran to accept UAE's request for settling the issue of three UAE islands occupied by Iran through direct negotiations or the International Court of Justice.

He also condemned all kinds of terror in Iraq and foreign interference in the Arab state.
