The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, Alpha Barry, on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Ministers discussed a number of issues regarding bilateral relations and means of enhancing them in light of the desire of the two countries to develop joint cooperation for the benefit of both countries and people. They also exchanged views regarding a number of issues of mutual interest.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his hope for further development to these relations in all fields.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso noted his country’s keenness on its relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain and wished the Kingdom further progress and prosperity.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Netherlands, Stef Block. The meeting, which was held in the United Nations Headquarters in New York, resulted in signing a memorandum of understanding for bilateral cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries. The memorandum aims at promoting and developing the friendly relations and common interests of the two countries.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his confidence that the memorandum of understanding will result in developing ties and exchanging views at various levels regarding bilateral relations and international issues of mutual interests to achieve stronger cooperation that benefits the two countries.

According to the memorandum, regular consultations will be held between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and coordination regarding issues of mutual interest.
