Emirates Human Rights Association signs MoU with Maat for Peace

The Emirates Human Rights Association and Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, on joint action and co-operation in Cairo.

The Emirates Human Rights Association and Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights both have consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council, ECOSOC, which enables them to work not only in the Arab region but also for all international events and the Human Rights Council.

The MoU was signed at a press conference held in Cairo, with the participation of several media professionals and those concerned with Arab human rights affairs.

Mohammed Salem Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Emirates Human Rights Association, and Ayman Okail, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights, spoke during the press conference.

The Emirates Human Rights Association considers the signing of the agreement an embodiment of its vision and strategic goal of co-operation and networking with the pillars of the Arab and international human rights movement, and Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights is one of them, thanks to its great expertise in professional human rights work at the regional and international levels, Al Kaabi said.

Okail stressed that the MoU was considered an embodiment of joint working spirit and collective thinking in the service of the Arab region, noting the necessity to execute joint activities between the two sides, represented in the training programmes and private seminars related to the service of the human rights issues in the region and exchange of expertise in the field of periodic review reports related to Egypt and the UAE, as well as the benefits accrued to each side from the training opportunities provided by the other side in the fields related to the universal periodic review and the various human rights issues.
