Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

Demonstrating hostility towards Moscow, Washington will receive a tougher response, according to the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov’s commentary on accusations against the Russian national Elena Khusyaynova with conspiring to interfere with the US elections released on Saturday.

"Demonstrating hostility to Russia and contempt for the whole world, they will only receive an increasingly tough response," the diplomat stressed.

Accusing the Russian national Elena Khusyaynova of meddling in the US elections, Washington is creating a pretext for another round of sanctions against Moscow, according to Ryabkov.

"Washington is fabricating a pretext for imposing the notorious sanctions once again against our country," the diplomat said.

The US authorities continue horrifying their own and global community with "Russian hackers and bloggers" as they have accused yet another Russian national of attempts to affect the US voters’ sentiment in the lead-up to the congressional election, he added.

Earlier reports said that the US Justice Department had charged the Russian national Elena Khusyaynova with conspiring to interfere with the 2018 midterm elections in the United States. According to prosecutors, the 44-year-old Russian national from St. Petersburg was indirectly involved in information campaigns that were allegedly launched in the United States by Russian firms "Concord Management and Consulting" and "Concord Catering".
