BALI-INDONESIA - SANA
Meetings of the 16th Ministerial Conference of the Non-aligned Movement (NAM) was convened on Wednesday in Bali, Indonesia, with the participation of Syria\'s delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad. Mikdad met with ministers and heads of the delegations taking part in the conference, including Foreign Ministers of Indonesia, Thailand, Ecuador, North Korea and Gabon, and the heads of the delegations of Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Nigeria and Venezuela. Mikdad reviewed during the meetings the situation in the region and the conspiracy facing Syria\'s security and safety and targeting its national unity. Mikdad said that the Syrian competent authorities did their job in defending the citizens against the armed terrorist groups who tampered with the security of the homeland, targeted the security forces and policemen, and vandalized public and private properties, which resulted in the martyrdom of so many of them by the fire of these groups, who are not interested in reform or peaceful protests, but rather target Syria\'s unwavering stances. Mikdad noted the support of regional and international sides to these terrorist groups by weapons and money, with the aim of undermining Syria\'s steadfastness, drawing attention to the unprecedented media incitement campaigns, based on misleading, disseminating lies and distorting facts. Mikdad reviewed the set of laws and measures issued by President Bashar al-Assad as part of the comprehensive reforms to meet the legitimate demands of citizens in various fields. The ministers and heads of delegations expressed their support to the measures undertaken by the Syrian leadership who assumed responsibility for defending the lives of citizens and their security and stability, and bringing back security and stability to the country. Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had opened the Ministerial Meeting and the celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the Non-aligned Movement by a statement which underlined the importance of the movement and solidifying solidarity among its countries.
