Ministry of National Defense and Interior in Algeria revealed the proactive measures taken to secure parliament elections on May 4 in case of any extremist threats. General Directorate of Algerian Security provided 44.500 security soldiers to cover 48 governorates to secure the elections.

Deputy Director of General Road, Saadi Mageed said in a press conference that, providing 44.500 police officers and soldiers is within the plan conducted by the general directorate of Algerian security to secure all governorates until the date of the elections.

Spokesman of the directorate said that, forces will search and inspect all facilities concerned with the election process 48 hours before their opening to the public. The Algerian security forces will spread in the surrounding of all centers and facilities, secure and move ballot boxes after the end of the voting process and in the presence of heads of these centers.

A special squad was appointed to protect the international observers and journalists covering these elections, along with the Independent Commission for Election Observation. Foot and mobile patrols will be increased in the surrounding areas of official and diplomatic bodies.

Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of Staff of the Algerian Army, Ahmed Kayed Saleh confirmed that, Military Air Force in the capital is ready for these elections according to a studied plan to ensure security before, during and after the elections that will be held on Thursday.
