Amman - Arab Today
Lebanese superstar Nancy Ajram visited the King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC), one of the leading cancer centers in Jordan and the Arab world yesterday to fulfill young patient Nour’s wish.
Nour is eight years old and currently undergoing treatment for leukemia at KHCC. HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF), and Dr. Asem Mansour, Director General and CEO of KHCC, as well as a number of representatives from KHCF and KHCC were also present to greet the famous singer.
Nancy’s visit came as a result of a video recently posted by KHCF on its social media channels that went viral. In the video, patient Nour sings one of Nancy’s popular songs "Ya Banat" and talks about her ultimate wish to meet her idol and sing with her. The video received a huge response from all across the Arab world, with many fans sharing it and asking the singer to fulfill Nour’s wish by visiting her in person.
"I sincerely thank the beloved superstar Nancy Ajram for being so quick to act upon fulfilling young Nour’s wish, which has captured all of our hearts," said HRH Princess Ghida. "Nancy’s kind gesture and love of charity work is not only a huge honor to all of us at KHCC, but has also brought profound joy to our patient Nour and given her the motivation and determination to continue her treatment and fight against cancer." Mrs. Ajram also emphasized her pleasure in helping to fulfill Nour’s wish saying: "I was very touched when I saw our young angel Nour’s video, and I am very happy that I got the opportunity to meet her and make her wish come true. In addition to offering comprehensive cancer care, it is a testament to the great humanitarian work of the King Hussein Cancer Centre that they go over and beyond to create unforgettable memories for their patients. I urge everyone to support this noble cause by donating to KHCC and helping to save the lives of cancer patients of all ages." During her visit to KHCC, Mrs. Ajram also took photos with other patients and toured the Centre’s most important departments.
The King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) strives to fulfill the wishes of its young patients undergoing cancer treatment at the King Hussein Cancer Centre through its Dreams Come True Program. The aim of this program is to lift the morale of patients and helping to alleviate the pain and stress that they experience as a result of long and difficult cancer treatment. The Dreams Come True Program is just one of several programs implemented by KHCF to improve the emotional well-being of patients, which is just as important to their overall recovery as their physical well-being.
The King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC) is one of the top comprehensive cancer centers in the Middle East that treats both adult and pediatric patients. It is the only center in the Arab world and the sixth in the world to receive disease-specific accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI) for its Oncology Program. KHCC treats over 3,500 new cancer patients each year from Jordan and the region, and receives more than 100,000 outpatient visits annually. Due to the increasing demand for top-quality cancer care, the Centre is currently undergoing an expansion consisting of two new state-of-the-art facilities, which will be three times the size of its existing building and located just across from it.
