One of the biggest problems that bald people face is the fact that there are endless strange myths, odd cures, bizarre ideas and mysterious tales surrounding them. It is said that your hair says a lot about your personal health, care, style and grooming, but does this mean that all bald men have health and grooming issues? We think not! Here's taking a look at the top 10 myths about going bald.. Stress leads to baldness. High level of emotional stress is often observed as a factor, which accelerates baldness in genetically vulnerable individuals. But stress is not a leading cause behind male-pattern baldness. As a matter of fact, it is a symptom of male-pattern baldness and not a cause. Hair loss is caused by decreased blood flow to the scalp. Medically it is believed that when your hair is growing, you do need a significant amount of blood flow reaching your scalp, but once you lose your hair, blood flow to the scalp decreases. Thus, advertisements that claim that their hair-care product contains 'nutrients' and 'vitamins' to promote blood flow to the scalp in order to bid baldness goodbye, shouldn't be believed entirely. Please note that decreased flow of blood to the scalp is a result of hair loss, but not a cause of it. Level of testosterone and baldness is closely linked. Yes, in a way. But let us understand this further. It is believed that people with a high level of testosterone will not inevitably experience genetic hair loss. Please note that hair loss is caused by DTH (dihydrotestosterne). Some people tend to produce more of DTH than the others; however this is not directly linked to the amount of testosterone in the body. Also, if high amounts of testosterone were the problem, the hair present in other parts of the body would also be expected to fall out. Certain shampoos can make hair grow faster. Scientifically speaking, there is no shampoo or oil, which can make your hair grow faster. Shampoos and oils might work, only if you want to give your hair more body and protection from scanty growth. You should always go for doctor-recommended products. Tight hats can cause baldness easily. It is often seen that bald men wear hats, but this is a complete myth. Wearing tight hats may slightly damage your hair, but it can in no way affect the follicles of your scalp. Hats do not cause hair breakage and if the hat is not cleaned well, it can lead to an oily scalp, but not hair loss. Also note that hair follicles, which help in hair growth, get oxygen from our blood stream and not from air. Baldness is inherited from the mother's side of the family. Doctors believe that the person with a balding father has the same amount of genetics affect on their hair as a balding mother. The gene called androgenetic, which causes common baldness can be inherited from either side of the family. Frequent shampooing causes hair to fall out. People who start to go bald, often think that the prime reason for the hair loss is their shampoo, since they notice their hair in the tub. But this is not true at all. In fact, it is seen that people who fear shampoo, tend to wash their hair less often, which means that hair that would normally come out in washing now builds up on the scalp. This leads to building up of thinner and finer hair, thus, resulting in baldness. Playing with your hair can cause baldness. Running your fingers though hair and always playing with your hair does not lead to premature baldness or baldness of any kind for that matter. Playing with your hair every now and then is a serious sign of stress, nervousness and frustration, but this doesn't lead to baldness in any way. Shaving hair does not make it grow back stronger. If only life was that easy. Truth be told, a shaved head will not prevent a bald head. Shaving hair will not increase the number of healthy hair already present on the scalp and will also not lead to thickening of hair. Most women aren't attracted to bald men. This is not true in any way. If this is to be believed, then what about celebrities like Bruce Willis, Nicholas Cage, and Vin Diesel, Charles Barkley and the list just goes on. One of the most commonly attractive features is self-confidence. Carry it and let your head shine!
