A delegation from Suez Cement group of Companies (SCGC) which was headed by Italcementi’s Zone Director Fabrizio Donega and SCGC Managing Director Bruno Carré, visited yesterday the Children’sCancer Hospital 57357.  Italcementi is the main shareholder in SCGC.  The delegation was received by Hospital director, Sherif Aboul Naga and Resource Development Manager Hanaa Farid. Aboul Naga gave a presentation about the hospital and how it was founded. He highlighted the hospital’s plans to support scientific research which would help increase patient recovery rates.  Aboul Naga stressed that collaboration and solidarity of all stakeholders in the society are the key factors that help the hospital to serve its patients from Egypt, the Arab world and the Nile Basin. Praising SCGC’s support of Hospital 57357, which started in 2008 with the donation of 600 tons of cement for the construction of the hospital’s cyclotron building, which houses the special equipment used for cancer therapy, and most recently in March, a 100,000 EGP donation to the hospital, Dr Aboul Naga stressed the importance of the contributions made by the corporate sector. The delegation took a tour of the hospital, visiting the outpatient and day treatment sections, stopping to speak to the children and give them some small gifts. SCGC MD Mr Carré said that SCGC is proud to be a supporter of Hospital 57357 and that making such a visit to the hospital is a key part of the Company’s social responsibility towards the children. “The hospital is comparable to other hospitals in Europe and the US.  All Egyptians must be proud to have such a facility which is a source of hope for Egyptian and Arab children,” he said. SCGC is one of the largest Egyptian cement producers, with an industrial network composed of five production facilities located in Tourah, Suez, Kattameya, Helwan and El Minya. These facilities produce approximately 12 million metric tons of clinker per year.
