The Cabinet on Sunday approved the restructuring of the UAE’s Supreme Committee for Medical Liability and amended its terms of reference to ensure prompt and speedy settlement of claims brought before the courts of law. The new composition of the committee accommodates more areas of medical specialisations and also provides for the committee’s operational budget. The committee to be based at the ministry of health will be appraised annually by the General Secretariat of the Cabinet to ensure impartiality in its decisions relating to government and private hospitals. His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, chaired the cabinet meeting. During the meeting, two new comprehensive e-transformation initiatives were launched to upgrade the management of the cabinet functioning. The initiatives are introduced as per directives of Shaikh Mohammed. The initiatives, named as ‘Minister’s e-portfolio’ and ‘Knowledge Centre’ will allow the electronic follow-up of major projects of each ministry in the UAE government. This will provide each minister with a window, through which he can electronically access  reports on the implementation of Cabinet decisions in addition to the reports of the Audit Bureau of his respective ministry. It also includes a Knowledge Centre on the most important reports on the experiences and practices of similar ministries on the global level. The Cabinet also approved in its meeting a number of new standards for commodities in the local markets. The cabinet also discussed a number of other topics on the agenda and took appropriate decisions. Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt-Gen. Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Shaikh Mansour  bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other ministers were present at the meeting.
