Nile water samples taken from Awlad Yehia and Awlad Rashid villages in the Upper Egypt governorate of Sohag were tested and proved to be fit for human consumption and devoid of impurity or petroleum substances' remains, the Health Ministry undersecretary in Sohag said.
In statements Thursday, Yousry Baiyoumi said a commission was formed under directives of Sohag Governor Ayman Abdel Moneim to test Nile water in the two villages after people complained that they saw oil spots in the Nile and the water is not pure.
