Saudi Arabia's Council of Senior Scholars has strongly denounced the "massacre committed by the Syrian regime and its allies" by targeting the "Al-Quds" Hospital in Aleppo, and killing dozens, including children and medical personnel.

In a statement carried by Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the panel said that the city of Aleppo is suffering from a humanitarian crisis as the continuous airstrikes have claimed scores of lives amid the "death of the universal conscience which only issues condemnation statements that contribute to prolonging the crisis.

The council stressed that although the targeting of the hospital, which is not the first of its kind, bears the hallmarks of a crime in terms of tools, plans and implementation method, the International Community has not taken any "real step to hold accountable the criminal that exports violence and terrorism and displaces millions of human beings and sends them to all parts of the world."

The Secretariat-General of the Council of Senior Scholars called on Islamic countries to adopt "effective steps" to put an end to such humanitarian disasters and urge the International Community to deal with Islamic issues seriously, and with responsibility and justice.
