The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) on Wednesday opened a medical fitness test centre for women in Al Rashidiya. The centre is the first of its kind in the emirate. A senior director at DHA said the location is ideal for residents of Al Khawaneej, Al Warqa, Nad Al Hamr and Mizhar, who can get the medical screening done for their expatriate housemaids. Requirement Article continues below \"In the future this centre will also screen expatriate women for new work visas,\" said Maisa Al Bustani, Director of Medical Fitness. At present, the facility handles 400 women per day for tests which are required when renewing residence visas. She said the success of the Al Muhaisna Centre which has a ladies wing, prompted the opening of the centre. The director said the aim of opening a women-only centre is to provide privacy for ladies. \"While this is a dedicated centre for women, we already have a separate waiting area for females in all our centres,\" she added. Maisa said the next centre in the pipeline will be located at the Al Karama Centre which will open soon. Khalid Al Shaikh Mubarak, Deputy Director General of DHA, who inaugurated the new medical fitness centre, said the DHA now has 16 centres across Dubai. These include centres at the Dubai International Financial Centre, Knowledge Village, Tecom, Al Satwa, Al Quoz, Al Safa, Al Mankhool, Al Khawaneej, Al Twar, Airport and Al Bada\'a.
