Health insurance workshop held

Bahrain is stepping up efforts to implement the national health insurance programme. It hosted a key workshop which outlined outstanding international practices in implementing the scheme, which aims at providing world standard health coverage to citizens and residents.
Three international experts conducted the workshop in the presence of senior officials from the Supreme Council for Health (SCH), the Ministry of Health and the Royal Medical Services.

Addressing the opening of the workshop, SCH President Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa stressed Bahrain’s keenness on benefiting from international expertise in implementing the health insurance programme.

He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, hailing the keenness of the wise leadership on providing quality health services.

The three international experts, who concluded their visit to Bahrain are specialised in health insurance, self-run medical institutions and pricing of health services.

“The experts visited the Ministry of Health, hospitals, health centres, military medical institutions and were briefed on readiness to implement the health insurance scheme”, said SCH Secretary-General Ibrahim Ali Al-Nokhada.
