US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived here Saturday coming from Washington on a two-day visit to Egypt.
During the visit, Kerry will meet his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry to discuss a number of security issues in the region as well as means of supporting Egypt in its war against terrorism in Sinai.
Kerry's tour of the Middle East includes Egypt and Qatar, then he will visit a number of countries in southern Asia.
Kerry as well as Shoukry will lead the "strategic dialogue" sessions between the two countries.
On Thursday, the Egyptian top diplomat received a phone call from Kerry to prepare for the strategic dialogue sessions slated for Sunday.
During the phone call, the two officials probed a number of issues atop of which bilateral relations as well as the latest regional and international developments, especially conditions in Syria, Yemen, Palestine, Iraq and Libya.
