US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived here on Monday for talks with a number of African leaders on security issues in the region, the BBC reported.

The US top diplomat's visit aimed at holding talks about peace in the region, “primarily on stabilising Kenya's neighbor South Sudan” as well as settling tensions in Somalia.

Kerry will also lay the groundwork for an upcoming business summit involving the East African Community and American business people.

The summit is scheduled to take place in New York on September 18, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
