King Abdullah II

US Defense Secretary Ash Carter received on Monday Jordan's King Abdullah II, who is currently in Washington.

Carter and Abdullah discussed issues of mutual concern, including the Syrian crisis, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

He added that Carter reaffirmed the depth of strategic relations between the two countries.

Carter also expressed deep appreciation for Jordan's efforts in fighting Daesh terrorists.

Before meeting Carter, King Abdullah discussed with US Secretary of State John Kerry several Middle East issues, including ways to settle the Syrian conflict, confronting Daesh and Palestinian tension.
