UAE Minister of Finance and Deputy Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum was honored Wednesday at the Temple of Karnak in Luxor after being chosen as the Cultural Personality of the Year.

At his own request, the UAE minister asked to be honored in Egypt, not in any other European country.

The honoring ceremony was held on the sidelines of the 2nd international conference of the Arab Society of Arts and Islamic Civilization, currently held here.

The ceremony was attended by Luxor Security Chief Essam el Hemaly and Qatari Deputy Minister of Culture Faleh Al-Hajri.
