Ambassador of the UAE to Australia, Dr. Obaid Al Heri Al Ketbi, joined Australian leaders and veterans in a ceremony held today to pause and remember those who died or suffered in wars and conflicts.

Governor-General of Australia Peter Cosgrove, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, senior officials, military commanders, high-level dignitaries and representatives of diplomatic community attended the Remembrance Day's formal wreath laying ceremony.

The annual Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth of Nations member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. This year 11 November marks the 98th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War (1914–18). Each year on this day Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11 am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts.
