Minister of Transport Galal el Saeed said the development process of Safaga seaport has been completed and the port is expected to start operation once again within the coming days.
The development process was carried out at a total cost of EGP 510 million, Saeed said in statements Friday.
The minister noted that Safaga is one of Egypt's most important ports; given its closeness to the new development center in Upper Egypt, not to mention that it can also be easily connected with Saudi Arabia's ports of Daba and Jeddah.
Located about 200-300 km away from Upper Egypt, Safaga seaport was connected with main cities in Upper Egypt in line with a project that cost more than EGP 4 billion.
